Police from Banashakari Police Station (Bengaluru City) verbally abused and assaultd (physically and sexually) 40 plus human rights defenders and sexual minorities when they questioned the illegal detention of 5 hijras by Girinagar Police station on 20th October, 2008.
Coalition for Sexworkers and Sexual Minorities Rights (CSMR) was launched by the social movements and human rights organization in Bengaluru to resist the police abuse and to defend the human rights of sexual minorities and sexworkers.
